The reliable polarity that a webcomic is great is that , when you get to the most late update , you find yourself click the “ next ” push , pray that there is more . That ’s how I feel readingTrial of the Sun , a webcomic about a sworn maiden , toast to military religious service , who must venture on a deadly quest for his family .
Trial of the Sun is by Jeinu ( who also create the webcomicMiamaska ) and it star Davrey Eliano , a sworn maiden who is pledged to military service and treated by law and company as male person . This befit Eli just fine , and he looks forward to fulfilling the military military service his syndicate owe the land . But living in Saltrust is stranger than it at first appear . Eli ’s people are devoted to the goddess Amari , and Amari is n’t an abstract apotheosis — she is a being that people see and interact with . And she happens to arrive in Saltrust just as Eli get a line his Father of the Church and uncle have been injured in a riot .
The people of Eli ’s world — humans , ELF , the bird creatures known as lamiak — live in relative surety inside the Saltblood Barrier , a wall that ensures their goddess ’ protection . Outside the bulwark is a wasteland , filled with monsters and perverted God . But Eli may not bed the serenity of Amari ’s auspices much longer as his family ’s luck on the spur of the moment exchange .

The world that Jeinu has created is an intriguing one , but it ’s the characters that make Trial of the Sun something special . Eli comes from a large and well respected category , one filled with substantial personality and a romantic backstory . And while , outwardly , Eli is sniffy and fanatically religious , he nurtures doubts about his power — and may very soon have his faith in his goddess challenged . Plus , the reader is treated to a bit of inner knowledge that Eli does n’t have , involve an inept cloister elf and an Ark containing a mysterious force , one that has lie down abeyant for generations .
It all commingle into a very human fancy play , one where we ’re peculiar to see not just what happen to our protagonists , but also how they ’ll react to hardship .
