Buffy Summers has been polish off demons for the preceding 26 years . This drop , her storey in Dark Horse Comics ’ ongoingBuffy the Vampire SlayerSeason Twelve : The Reckoning series will add up to an end . And then ? Well , it ’s plump to get interesting
In a recentinterview with CBR , writer Joss Whedon reflect on the new places he ’s taken the Scooby Gang over the years as their canonical adventures continued in Dark Horse ’s mirthful Sir Frederick Handley Page . As Buffy and her allies have spring up up , their lives have become organically more complicated and matured . Buffy and Spike broke up , Dawn and Xander had a baby , and Giles is … well , more or less still Giles ( even if he ’s run short through some shit ) .
Whedon punctuate that while the quaternary and final proceeds of The Reckoning is meant to be the conclusion of that serial , it wo n’t simply end with all of its character idle and setting up the plot for Fray , Whedon ’s first amusing book serial publication about a slayer from the time to come . The fourth issue will be the end of the Dark Horse Buffy epoch and then , the rights to the series revert , interestingly , to Fox :
“ In the meantime , we need to do something more with Dark Horse right now – specially because Fox is taking the Buffy license and the Firefly licence back . And Dark Horse has shepherded these license for tenner now . ”
Whedon also expressed his uncertainty as to what the Buffy comics informatics reverting back to Fox would mean give theimpending sales agreement of 21st Century Fox to Disney :
“ I do n’t know what ’s going to hap with [ Fray ] , actually . I mean , legally . I learn about all of this after the fact . It ’s like Disney taking Star Wars over to Marvel . All the sudden we realize this is happening . So I ’m writing this from a posture that will leave everybody in a stance where you feel some closure , but it ’s by all odds not , ‘ Oh , I now I wo n’t ever want to interpret about them again . ’ ”
Between the comedian andthe coming reboot / revival meeting , the Buffy franchise is having an interesting moment right now that , fittingly , feels like the time has come for a fresh killer .
