Now this is on the button the kind of stuff we were expecting from American Horror Story ! Last night ’s climax of the two - part Halloween plot line nurture the bar for this serial as a whole .

Last week I saidZachary Quinto had saved AHS , and I stick out by that . His carrying into action elevated this serial to the pace and acting insanity that it should be running at . And what is more , “ Halloween Part 2 ” might be my favored episode of AHS so far — hell , it ’s now in the running play for favourite episode from a horror show ever . And this from a person who was never all that impressed with the scares that this series was dishing out . Last nighttime all the teaser opus part to precipitate into place , allowing the oversexed spirits who haunt the Murder House to finally have a little fun . Plus we found out that Tate is an irreclaimable giant … right after we fell for him .

It finger as though AHS is finally utilizing all the spooks inside this manor house , to get out the good scares . For the first time this feel like a real haunted - house news report and not just three kinsfolk trapped in a fancy showroom . yield , parts of it were still a higgledy-piggledy mess — but holy hell Quinto must have laid $ 100 on the terra firma after his MacBethy pumpkin philippic and said , “ Out - roleplay this , jerk . ” Because no one phoned it in for Halloween . Even Burning Man Denis O’hare was bring Jessica Lange ’s Southern wiles to court .
But first and first , I need to speak about the most surprising part of the sequence : Allen Tate ’s backstory . While on their first veridical escort , Tate and Violet pass their night cuddle - humping next to a beachy campfire . Which I assume is some form of teenager date police in California because I ’ve yet to watch a show with someone under the age of 19 without the government mandate campfire petting . Meanwhile , it ’s fucking snowing in New York . Snowing ! Anyway , kisses and cuddles and genitalia grabs were flying … but what ’s this ? Tate does n’t require to log Z’s with Violet just yet . Is it because he has a ghost penis ? It ’s arrest ta be a ghost phallus affair , right ?
Rebuffed , Violet motions to result , and instead Tate wins her over with a romantic , “ have it off High School and everyone in it ” narrative . It ’s really fairly fresh and clearly these two who favour disgraceful roses ( vomitus ) and Kurt Cobain are think for each other . Surely this is true sexual love , and Tate and Violet will get married on the smokers ’ stairs on the side of the High School .
NOT SO FAST . go in a gaggle of zombiefied High Schoolers . They know Tate , which is leftover because he ’s a ghost . become out the bunch has been looking for Tate for years , and they ’re passably pissed . It sinks in pretty tight what this little bastard did .
And yes that was Alessandra Torresani , better known as Zoe Graystone from Caprica . So first-class — love her .
The crew follows Tate and Violet back to her rest home . And this is where thing tardily unravels from the Lost Boys - meets - Breakfast Club standstill - off the consultation was expecting . And our bad fearfulness are confirmed .
It start when Amir , the boy with no bottom jaw , tries to blurt out ( I think ) something about how he just need his facial expression back while the crew is circle Violet . His words bubble up under a thick spout of black blood . vote out he slinks off , hand clutching the gawp mess of where his brim should be . The cheerleader makes a pitiful face of disgust , puts her hand on his shoulder and tell , “ It ’s OK . ”
Hmmm , jerk off hooligan looking toCobra Kai the local geek on Halloweenrarely hit the pause button long enough to comfort each other . I did n’t really ask any more confirming after that spot , Tate did exactly what American Horror Story suggest at in the pilot installment and had been bricking off in each instalment , by sending Tate on “ protect Violet ” errands . He took a gun to school and murder his classmates .
Taking a murder of this order of magnitude , for entertainment . Christ , American Horror Story , that ’s a braggy tab to live with . Buffy could n’t even get theirColumbine - esque installment on the air . And it ’s impossible to shake the comparison — especially when one of the victims claims Tate need her if she conceive in God before he pulled the trigger .
But , alternatively of vengeance , these spirits want answer . They play along Tate screaming , plead , and eventually begging through tear , to know why . “ This guy was honour roll , he could have been valedictorian … Now I ’m not hold out to change the man , but he could have . He could have been something , and you ruined all that potential drop . ” It ’s all very reminiscent of a play I saw a foresightful time a go that was entitle ( I think ) The Columbine Project where the victims talk about the future they were robbed of . What happened last Nox was horrifying , all debilitating and then finally unspeakably sad . I found myself gnarl “ oh shit , oh diddly , oh shit ” the entire meter from entrance to exit . Which was probably the point .
Now how are we to feel about Tate ? His action have yet to be in full explicate . But can there be an explanation that lets him off the claw for these inexcusable deeds ? Even if he was possessed by a spirit and did n’t know he was doing it , I would hate to cerebrate they ’d use that , that sort of cheapens introducing these victims , does n’t it ? Of course there ’s his side of the story , and it might even be very sad and touching , but I ’ll never be able to look out this show with him in it , past a few more sequence . And I imagine that ’s how Violet palpate as well . ( Not about watching the show , but you know what I signify . ) It ’s a passel to digest . It look like the next episode shows what happened at the school , and I ’m curious . However , I am well-chosen that a show who has only been utilizing ghost for sex and last used these fiber in a far unlike means .
move on , the quietus of the instalment was all cut Man and Hayden render to out - brainsick each other . In the end , Hayden wins when she pretends to nuke the frankfurter ( yay Urban Legend point of reference ) . One thing we can take away from Hayden ’s ghostly appearance is 1 ) she taste like raspberries and cream YIKES now I know that eternally ! 2 ) Vivo now knows that Ben got her pregnant 3 ) Vivo suppose Ben squeeze her to abort said baby and 4 ) Hayden care baths . But most importantly Vivien is rifle eruption the jack out of that red-hot security sentry duty .
Meanwhile Ben move out . Good Riddance !
And finally the last scene of this epical two - parter was the ghostlike walking of shame back to Murder House . spent , lamentable and trap all the spirits we know and love saunter back to their prison . The ginger twins , Quinto , Moria , the Evil Abortionists wife all grudgingly slog back into their “ home . ” And even though Quinto is ever so rude to Vivien and smash her pumpkins , he did preserve the rest home from burn , just like the Abortionist ’s wife saved Vivien by untying Ben . It was an eerie retreat back into the ghostly haunting that is the Murder House , but we love that Patrick was off getting laid ( just like Quinto said he was last class . ) Oh these shade , they ’re so horny !
We leave this episode with these questions . How does Ben NOT KNOW this house is haunted by now ? And how in the hell can Vivien stay there ? Go take up with a relative , girl . lastly , I ca n’t await to see how Violet deal with Constance ’s big reveal , although I wonder how much Constance really gave away . Then again , all of his deeds are but a google hunting out . Until next week .
