We said it long ago : The Apple iPad will redefine newspapers , textbooks , magazines . Were we right ? IsApple bringing a medium revolution ? Oh , it’ll get there .

Books, Books, iBooks
We ’ve had an iTunes store and now we ’ve got an iBook fund with content from Penguin , Harper Collins , Simon & Schuster , Macmillan , Hachette book radical . We ’ll browse this content on a bookshelf - like Thomas Nelson Page and add to it using a leverage organisation similar to the App computer storage ’s . This interface look clean , organise , andlike you could really snuggle up with your iPad and a book — though I do wonder about asthenopia from a display like this .

snap to consider

The pricing we ’re see for actual book during the presentationresembles what we ’ve hear beforewith a cost point of $ 14.99 . Update : Some eagle - eyed reader noticed that there are several Book with price breaker point as low as $ 4.99 in the iBook store . While Apple uses the ePub formatting , we do n’t have verification about whether you’re able to spell your own books into the iBook program library — though betting odds are in favor of that freedom .

Newspapers and Magazines With an Upgrade
We figured that a New York Time ’s iPad applicationwas coming , and while it allows for playback of video clips and other enhanced content , we ’re not really have anything that we could n’t get on the NYT website . The point is that now there ’s not only motivation for publisher to push online or app - base subscription modeling , demo more enhanced content , put out their own apps — just as they did for the iPhone — but now there ’s an gadget which yell that it ’s idealistic for the line .

We’veseen mockups of a Sports Illustrated iPad applicationand that ’ll probably become reality before long . Right along with a properly formatted version ofWired .

Movies and Popcorn Butter Stained Screens
Sure there are plenty of movies in the iTunes store , but watching them in widescreen landscape painting format on the iPad give half the gimmick ’s covert unused as . Bit garish , but somehow I think we might overlook that considering that the iPad ’s battery let us keep watching picture for ten true hr .
What’s So Great About It All?
Click to viewMovies , books , music , magazine and newspaper apps . The iPad combine Apple ’s self-colored subject deliverance system and a gadget which is almost idealistic for all that medium . We ’ll take heed to our iTunes aggregation while read out iBook collection and squint at the grease marks left from a Zea mays everta - powered ten - time of day picture marathon .
What’s Missing?
amusing books . I desperately wanted to see the ideal comic record book referee today , but that ’s certainly somethingan app could help with . There were alsoexpectationsof some form of subscription model for some powder magazine and newspaper content , but it appears that we ’ll have to hold back for the apps and see how that works out . Oh , and external users will be a bit leave out with any iBook substance found on the fine photographic print excuse that “ iBooks [ are ] available in the U.S. only , ” but that ’s plausibly due to Apple needing to mold thing out with publishers .
