Frank Herbert ’s sci - fi classic Dune oddment withan intense showdown betweenPaul Atreides and Feyd - Rautha , two sides of an larger-than-life war that ’ll determine the fate of a trade , a planet , and a galaxy . In the film adaptation , Dune : Part Two , Atreides isonce again played by Timothée Chalamet , and Feyd - Rautha , the heir - apparent to the evil Baron Harkonnen ( Stellan Skarsgård ) , is played by Oscar nominee Austin Butler . For that rationality alone , it would make common sense that the two would challenge each other , but according to Chalamet , it was much more than that .
In a fascinatingnew consultation with GQ(conducted before the SAG - AFTRA strike ) , Chalamet talks about the first clip he and Butlermet in regards to Dune . It was over Zoom and Butler had already prepared to the decimal point where he sounded very obviously inspired by Skarsgård . “ I ca n’t overstate how inspiring it was to me in person , ” Chalamet enjoin . “ Because here was someone who ’s a trivial older than me , but generationally we ’re like , and I do n’t know how he would put it , but his journey was dissimilar than mine . But he takes the employment fantastically seriously . And I palpate like I had n’t interpret that among someone my eld , whether it was in dramatic play school or on set , that did take the workplace that seriously but then after ‘ cut ’ was n’t , you cognise , in some show of how seriously they took it — and instead is this hugely affable , tremendous homo . ”
One of Dune ’s producers , Cale Boyter , mouth about how that carried over to the final scene too . “ You ’re talking about two of the most talented vernal actor of our generation facing off , ” he said . “ I would say Timmy ’s story of preparation run low into the setting — well , knowing he was campaign Austin enhanced it . ”

There , it was less pals and more wise man . multitude like Oscar Isaac , Jason Momoa , and Josh Brolin . But this time , in Part Two , he not only had Butler , he had Zendaya ( whom he shared a few panorama with in the first movie , but has many more with this time around ) as well as Florence Pugh . Oh , and Zendaya ’s boyfriend , some guy named Tom Holland , would also confab the set . The actor talked about how having those type of people around was evenly inspiring .
“ It was so improbably worthful to spend so much time with Zendaya and her supporter , Darnell , and when Tom would occur to set too , ” Chalamet said . “ They ’re flat . They ’re right Hollywood . They ’re well - energy Hollywood . And then Austin and Florence . I sense like I ’m creating a community of interests for myself of people who care about the right things . ”
