Ivica Stevanovic is an artist from Serbia . All I can say is that he ’s a mad superstar of the surreal….and I like it . I like it a lot . In this heading , we ’ll tour his strange world .
In addition to his awesome images in graphic novel , he has also make for on numerous chiildren ’s books as well as cover for various publishing company . I first come across his amazing picture while working on the Steampunk Reloaded anthology with my married man , Jeff VanderMeer . I am golden enough to be married to a man who shares my artistic esthetic . Jeff is the one who introduced me to Ivica ’s work .
How can you look at this and not experience something creeping up your back ? This is one of several pieces from a projection called Graphocalypse .

Makes Mickey Mouse ears look sinister , does n’t it ?
This is Babylon City . Stevanovic uses images from famous picture and makes them his own . A similar proficiency used by Scott Eagle who I profiled over the holidays .
In My Mouth – from the graphic novel Kindly Corpses :

Cross Section – also from Kindly Corpses :
Wisdom Tree , from Graphocalypse :
Signs in the Sky – I want to do a book with this as the blanket . Would n’t you buy it ?

Days of the Beast – another from Graphocalypse . It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland … and other hooey . A bit of Frida Kahlo in there , too . Creepy because I feel like I know that cat with the crooked teeth ( I mean I move to high school with him … )
Another from the pictorial novel Kindly Corpses – My Heart :
Also from Kindly clay – do n’t you just want this Word of God ? I want to purchase every individual book with Ivica ’s art disregardless of what language it is in .

Book Cover for Demon Slike – got ta love a fish with subdivision :
From a graphic novel – L’Anatomie du Ciel – Anatomy of the Sky :
The Hobbit – ok , yes I know … .Another version of The Hobbit ? But do n’t you just sleep together his take on it ? Makes you look at Bilbo Baggins in a totally different twinkle .
