The Department of Justiceannounced on Wednesdaythat 22 - year - old Argenys Rodriguez will pass 12 months and one solar day in prison house . According to the DOJ , the hackers involved in Rodriguez ’s scheme dressed as technician and installed malware on an ATM , then others used the malware to jackpot the machine . Court documentsshow they used thePloutus malware , which allow aggressor to jackpot ATMs from a smartphone .

Police in Cromwell , Connecticut , bump Fajin - Diaz and Rodriguez near an ATM that was spewing cash on January 27 , after Citizen Bank investigator had alert authority of wary activity . Police searched the suspects ’ elevator car and found the cock needed to plow an ATM into a jackpot slot . The workforce had approximately $ 5,600 in cash on them , but authorities before long found out the two men , along with other partners , had taken $ 63,200 from the car .
