Steve Garfield got the e-mail from Comcast that his long , thirsty wait for theComcast TiVowas over , so he immediately called ’em up ( after the online system give way you no manner to order it ) , only to be told by the rep “ I did n’t know it was come out so before long . Let me hold if it ’s available . ” Since it ’s Comcast , you know the story does n’t cease there , despite what should be a totallypainless transition .

After two more days of getting ricochet around by reps , the exec agency in Massachusetts rings him up and arranges an install appointment — the very first in the Boston area , he ’s secern . Not just one , but two installers AND a executive program . They are serious cable company . in any event , they had to hunt down and pull an old sign filter , since it was diluting the signal , prevent Steve ’s DVR from downloading the new novel TiVo software . But thirty minutes later , it was done .
So what ’s it like once it ’s frame-up ? Well , it is n’t an HD TiVo , so the port does n’t fill up the whole screen , it just kind of float in the nerve center of a widescreen high-definition television . But everything else works ( except for “ Groups , ” ) and particularly cool is that all of the old telly shows remain on the box , even after the rise . Okay , the update itself is somewhat painless , but you still demand a twenty-four hours off of work , and hopefully Comcast will get better at this with some drill . [ Off on a TangentviaTiVo Blog ]
