lease ’s not mince Scripture here . Guardians of the Galaxy is awesome , hilarious , first-rate merriment , and you should go see it .

My disclaimer is that I ’d never read the comics and was going into this completely blind . Although give that the claim it ’s establish on is n’t in particular democratic relative to the other Marvel blockbusters , there ’s a good luck you ’re coming from the place of bless ignorance .
Whether you ’re devoted to the source material or not , the most important thing to know about Guardians of the Galaxy is that it ’s tonally thoroughgoing , ride the line between giddiness and excellent activity sequences as well as any summer fun motion-picture show in late memory . It ’s exactly what a mirthful volume movie should be . The unfit guys are extra bad , the hoagy are appropriately blemished . It ’s also much , much comical than any of the other superhero movies of the mod era .
Super - brief plot of land outline : Our Hero of Alexandria , Peter Quill a.k.a . Star Lord , is a space thief . He steal a cool orb matter . Bad guy wire seek to belt down him for it , as does an otherwise utterly pleasant green gentlewoman named Gamora . They ’re joined by amplitude - Hunter Rocket and Groot ( a cybernetically - enhanscd raccoon and a tree - creature , severally ) , who are after Quill for some money . He ’s an in - need kind of guy cable .
Quill , Gamora , Rocket , and Groot go to get arrested for fighting in public and are thrown into a truly terrific prison where they touch Drax , a mammoth noncitizen who is very expert at breaking affair . That ’s about as far in the plot as I can go without giving away spoiler , but suffice it to say that universe - saving havoc ensues .
How about the cast ? Chris Pratt as Peter Quill is passing appealing , really fun and piquant , and , not amazingly , very funny . Zoe Saldana as Gamora is super bad rump and oh my god please conjoin me . I do n’t worry if our babies are gullible . Then there ’s former MMA and current WWE ace Dave Batista as Drax , who has surprisingly good comic timing for such an impossibly immense and chilling human being .
Groot and Rocket are sound by Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper , severally , both of whom do wonder with a unmanageable business . I acknowledge I was skeptical when I saw there was a talking raccoon and a human being - similar tree - matter in this movie , but I bought decent into it , no trouble . Lee Pace as Ronan ( the Big Bad ) is just the correct amount of scary and mean . Also mean . Did I name mean ? Dude is hella mean . As for John C. Reilly as Corpsman Dey , well as always , Brule rules . The support cast and cameo are all quality , too . It ’s a very well - acted picture , which ca n’t be easy when two of the main crew are completely CGI .
If I had one unfavorable judgment to level at Guardians of the Galaxy it ’s that the expo is sometimes so heavily - handed that you ’re thrown out of the moment . I get why they have to be there ; this is a whole new creation with its own rules , and the filmmaker rightly do n’t want to slow down the narrative . jam it into one big run - on condemnation is sometimes your only option . fortuitously , these business are at least effective , and and everything act on so quickly once they ’re done that they only constitute minor speed bumps .
Meanwhile , the visual outcome and special force are both absolutely fantastical . You ca n’t have a racoon and a Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree - thing as independent character if they face regretful , specially if they ’re in nigh every scene . Not only do you believe Rocket and Groot every step of the way , you become very engaged with them as characters , which ai n’t well-off to pull off . Also , there are a gross ton of mellow - vividness spaceship scrap and crazy battles and explosions , all of which expect awing . If you ’re coming for the eye - confect , you wo n’t be disappoint .
Are there plot hole ? Sure . Does it expect hiatus of disbelief ? Only constantly . But Guardians of the Galaxy is one of those rarified movies that ’s so fun you do n’t have time to give care .. This is the summertime smash hit we ’ve been waiting for . Just go see it .
