Prince Williamhad something sweet to say aboutKate Middleton’s artistic skills amid theMother’s Day photodrama.
On Thursday, the Prince of Wales, 41,opened the new youth zoneWEST in Hammersmith, west London, and self-deprecatingly knocked his creative skills while icing a cookie in a community kitchen.
“No, it’s really not impressive. My wife is the arty one. And my children are more arty than I am,” Prince William said, referring to Princess Kate and their three kids,Prince George, 10,Princess Charlotte, 8, andPrince Louis, 5. According to theDaily Mail, Prince William added that Prince Louis “loves sprinkles, so I’m going to put some more on here.”
Prince William’s comment came three days after his wife issued asurprise apologyto social media for “any confusion” around her Mother’s Day photo published on Sunday after multiple global photo agencies pulled the picture, the first official portrait of Kate herabdominal surgeryon Jan. 16, due to suspicion of manipulation.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,” Princess Kate wrote onXand her Instagram Story on Monday. “I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day.”
Prince William continued with royal duty following his wife’s apology, attending theCommonwealth Day Service of Celebrationat Westminster Abbey and akickoff celebrationfor The Earthshot Prize Launchpad on Monday. The following day, the Prince of Wales attended theprivate funeralofThomas Kingston, the husband of his cousin,Lady Gabriella, who died on Feb. 25 at age 45.
Prince William returned to work on Thursday with the visit to WEST in Hammersmith and was theguest of honorat the 25th anniversary of theDiana Awardcharity that evening. The glittering event at London’s Science Museum paid tribute to the latest 20 winners of the Legacy Award for the young people’s organization founded in memory ofPrincess Dianatwo years after her death following a Paris car crash in 1997.
In a speech, Prince William said, “I’m thoroughly delighted to be here today to recognize the transformational achievements of twenty exceptional young people from across the world. Each and every one of their stories, which you will hear shortly, are testament to their character, passion and determination to make a lasting and meaningful difference to the lives of others.”
